At home, suddenly on May 13, 2018, during Mother's Day dinner with her family.
Born August 16, 1921 in English Harbour West NL, she was the eldest daughter of the late Clifford and Valma (Yarn) Shirley.
Upon her marriage to the late Sterling Stright in 1943 she moved to Pictou NS where she resided until 1986 when, following her retirement from Scotiabank, she moved to Montreal PQ to live with her daughter Shirley and then on to Burlington ON in 1989 and settling in Nanaimo in 2005.
She is survived by daughter Shirley, son Clifford and wife Prapasit, grandchildren Nicole and Samantha, sister Joyce Chapman of Stephenville NL and sisters-in-law, Reta, Evelyn and Meta and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers Jim, Wils, Sam, Bill, Launce and Cliff and sisters Sadie and Evelyn.
There will be a funeral service on Saturday May 26 at St. Paul's Anglican Church Nanaimo at 2:00 pm.
Internment will take place at a later date in Pictou Nova Scotia. Donations to the Parkinson Society of Canada or a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
