Leonard John Erler, 94, of Comox, BC, passed away, Tuesday April 5, 2023 at North Island Hospital Comox Valley BC surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, April 14th at the Piercy's Funeral Home, 440 England Ave, Courtenay BC V9N 2N1. A reception will precede a memorial of Len's life at Piercy's to share memories of Len's Life.
Len was born March 22, 1929 In Ottawa, Ontario to Alvin and Isobel (Beattie) Erler. He was educated in Ottawa and worked as clerk before deciding to join the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1946.
On September 24, 1949, he married his soul mate Diana MacDonald Smith who passed on November 25, 2004.
Len was employed for 32 years by the military with sorties Overseas initially, living in Ottawa and Trenton Ontario, Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and finally Comox, BC before retiring in 1978.
Len was predeceased by his sister Lois Ventura and Brother Bruce, followed by his eldest son Douglas (November 2020).
Len is survived by two sons, Bruce (Adele) Kingston, ON, Michael of Comox, BC and daughter Debra Lohmaire (James) Chilliwack, BC; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews and their families.
Len will be dearly missed by his family and many friends that he has made over his 94 years with us.
