In loving memory ~
Leo Gardner of Courtenay, passed away peacefully at North Island Hospital on Wednesday, December 7th, 2022.
Predeceased by his wife of almost 50 years, Maralyn, he is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his companion Sandra Clifford; daughters Denise Gardner (Mike), Karen Roger (John), and Linda Gardner (Rob); son Dwayne Gardner (Jamila); 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; as well as his brothers Gus (Joan), John (Janette) and Mike (Pat); and sister Lorraine. Leo served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 30 years, training at CFB Borden as an airframe technician with postings in Trenton, Moose Jaw, Chatham, N.B., France and Comox. Afterwards he worked as a custodian at Robb Road School. In his leisure, he enjoyed wood working, gardening and stamp collecting. Leo was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, often serving as a Church usher and altar server.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, December 12th, at Christ The King Catholic Church. Following cremation, interment took place at Courtenay Civic Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in his memory to the North Island Hospital Foundation or Christ The King Church would be appreciated.
