August 31, 1970 - December 2, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Leah Woodrow on December 2, 2019. She was a soul who marched to a different drummer. The intensity of her beat was her own unique signature, she loved life, and she was full of life. Humorous, loving, and intelligent, Leah was 'Nobody's fool'. Her vital presence will be missed.
When Leah was young she took piano lessons from Kay Coveney (and completed grade 8 in classical piano). She started taking ballet when was 5 years old from Katija Zvelobeloza, and continued for 10 years, and took jazz dance with Pat Pantusso School of Dance for several years. She also joined Co-Val Choristers Youth Group (musical theatre) under the direction of Beryl Regier. Leah was in the production of "The Wizard of Oz, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Anna and the King."
When Leah was 14 years old, she attended Queen Margaret's School for girls, in Duncan. While at the school she formed friendships with many international girls and developed an interest in other countries and cultures. She moved to Vancouver in 1986, and entered Magee Sr. Secondary School, and graduated in June 1988. She entered Langara College and took drama class after graduation. She was employed in the movie industry in Vancouver.
When she was 20 years old, the 'travel bug' struck and she lived in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Portugal, and finally moved to London, England. During her 10 years in London, she acquired certification in both skin esthetics and massage therapy; all that while working at Goldman Sachs, and Barclay's banks (two years at each bank). Leah moved back to Vancouver Island when her father became very ill.
Leah was predeceased by her father Alan Daniel Woodrow, sister Marcia Woodrow, paternal grandparents Alan and Margaret Woodrow and maternal grandparents Lloyd and Kathleen Smith. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her mother Steffany Caldwell, aunt Coralie Williams, sister Jessica Woodrow, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, on the Woodrow, and Smith side of the families.
Flowers gratefully declined. Please consider a donation in her memory to the Comox Valley SPCA, 1668 Ryan Rd E, Comox, BC V9M 7Z8.
