June 20, 1944 – October 12, 2020
Larry Leon Ladouceur, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, died peacefully at the age of 76 on October 12, 2020, at Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, BC.
Larry was born on June 20, 1944, in Edmonton, Alberta, but came to Vancouver Island with his parents and siblings in 1953.
After leaving high school, Larry worked with his father who constructed bridges for logging roads.
In 1970 he married Barbara Brown and in 1972 their daughter Alicia was born. Even though their marriage didn’t work out, Larry was a devoted dad to Alicia, his step-son Jeff and his foster daughter/niece, Brittany.
Over the years, Larry worked in the logging industry, boat building and many other jobs, because he was a highly skilled jack-of-all- trades. At home, he loved to tinker with moving parts of every kind from small appliances to large cars.
As well, throughout his life, he was a kind charming man with a wicked sense of humour who took great delight in teasing family and friends. But most importantly he was a deeply caring father figure who provided support and guidance to many of his nieces and nephews.
Eventually Larry married Ann Webber and most recently they moved to Duncan where they were very happy together until Ann passed away in 2019. Since then Larry remained on his own with great support from his family, friends, neighbours, Home Support and Meals on Wheels.
Larry is survived by his daughter Alicia, step-son Jeff, step-daughter Tammi, granddaughter Hadley, his brothers Duane (Josie) and Donald (Bev), his ex-wife Barbara and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Leo and Fern, his wife Ann and his siblings Allen, Donalda, Warren, Clifford and Colleen.
There will be a celebration of Larry’s life and everyone will be notified when a date has been set.
Lastly we would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at Cowichan District Hospital who took such tender loving care of Larry and helped his passing to be as pain free and peaceful as possible. Obituary
