September 13, 1933 - December 28, 2020
With heavy hearts we wish to share the passing of Kosovka, "Kosa" "Kay" Pavelic our loving Mother, Baba, Teta.
Predeceased by husband Milan in 1966, and sister Ilinka and parents Milka and Bude Svilar.
Kosa is survived by her daughter Maria (Larry) and her son Nicolas; grandchildren Ashton (Eldon), Ryan (Angie), Jessica (Marcio) and John; great grandchildren James, Sadie, Faith and Nicolas; sister Marija Glumac (George) their children Rick and Diane (Tom) in Canada as well as family in Croatia and Serbia; sisters Nedja, Nada, and Slavic'a (Slobodan); brothers Stevan and Nikola (Dus'ha) and an extended family of nieces, nephews and in-laws she was close to. Kosa will be deeply missed by her beloved Svilar family in Wyoming.
Born in Korenica, Lika - Kosa married Milan. While living in Italy they welcomed the arrival of daughter Maria born in 1958. They came to Canada in 1960 settling in Port Alberni where son Nicolas was born in 1962.
Milan worked in the forest industry until his passing in 1966. Kosa was left to raise her children by herself. Never afraid of hard work, Kosa was first employed by the Filipchuk Family at the Beaufort as a cook. Kosa was forever grateful to the Filipchuk family for their help through her hard times.
Kosa also worked as a Janitor at Woodward's before eventually working at the Somass sawmill. Known by many as Kay, she proudly grew vegetables and baked her apple streudel for her family and friends - always ensuring that those who came to her home never left hungry.
After retirement Kay went to the IWA lunches with her "Somass Boys" whom she adored. She also loved going to the Harbour Quay Donut Shop with friends to share coffee and a good chat. Kay also cherished visiting and helping to feed her friends in Fir Park Village.
A heartfelt thank you to the Pioneer Towers crew - especially Teresa who looked out for Kay. Also, to Dr. D. Williams and the staff at WCGH for their support and care of Kosa and their support for the family during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kosa's memory may be made to the "ADSS Breakfast Club" as Kosa could never bare the thought of a child going hungry. Donations may be sent C/O SD 70 - 4690 Roger St. Port Alberni, BC, V9Y-3Z4
