Born in Saesing Denmark, Bent came to Canada at the young age of 22. His adventurous streak took him from construction work in Calgary to farming in Claresholm, and Hotel ownership in several Alberta towns and Nanaimo. In 2001, he settled into his own piece of paradise at Pryde Vista Golf Course.
Bent loved to travel and saw many parts of the world with his wife of 59 years, Thelma. He was a member of the Kinsmen in Alberta and Gyro in Nanaimo. An avid hunter for many years he often traveled back to Alberta for duck and pheasant hunting. Among his greatest pleasures was a great meal with good company. His family will always remember those good times.
Predeceased by his four brothers, he is survived by his wife, Thelma, son David (Louise), and daughters Marianne (Bruce) and Karen (Mark) eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sun. Feb 24 from 1 – 3 pm at Royal Canadian Legion #256, Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Child Development Centre.
