Kerry Ann (aka The Blind Lady) Grigg

On Wednesday morning Kerry was taken from us by a silent, but brutal killer, Lung Cancer. It was a devastating blow to her siblings, Teresa (Denise), Joel, Rina (Frank), and Vicki (Andy), who were all by her side to say "Good-Bye" and see her off on her new journey with love.
Kerry started life in South Burnaby on the same property her father was born on. But Dad worked for MacMillan Bloedel so we all ended up coming to the Island in the early 60's...first in Ucluelet, then to Kelsey Bay.
We all returned to South Burnaby for our teen years but the Island always carried a pull for her. In her twenties she became a real estate agent in Cranbrook and began flipping houses with her partner. In doing so, she started her interior decorating career...painting and wallpapering her flip houses to perfection.
Through the years she eventually ended up coming to Campbell River and started a painting and wallpapering apprenticeship with Chris Flotre, a woman who had a tremendous impact on her life and whom Kerry loved and respected immensely.
Kerry spent several years as a painter, wall paperer for Chris. She eventually made her way into Color Your World where she began her career in window coverings. When Color Your World closed the blind department, she started her own business called, "Color Your Windows", which she ran for many, many years.
Eventually that too closed and over time she found her way to West-Can Carpet One where she worked for over 20 years.
COVID pretty much ended her working years and she has been enjoying retirement since 2020. Kerry was a wonderful addition to Campbell River and will be greatly, but sadly, missed by the many who knew her.
Many, many thanks to the incredible and wonderful doctors (with a special callout to Dr. Tasha Maheu) and nurses who took such great care of her over this past month. You fulfill your calling in so many ways and deserve to have all of the love and respect you gave to us, returned back to you tenfold.
A Celebration of Life is being held at the Royal Canadian Legion (no membership required) on Saturday, April 22nd at 1:30 P.M. It is an informal event with "finger food" as well as drinks that may be purchased for the legion bar. Please feel free to join us in remembering a celebrating The Life & Times of Kerry Grigg.
