Ken passed away peacefully on September 29th in Nanaimo, B.C. after a short battle with cancer. Born and raised in Halifax, Ken, also known as "Little Mike", decided to join the Royal Canadian Air Force as a young man. Ken enjoyed a long and distinguished military career stationed over the years to CFB Greenwood, 1st and 2nd Wing in France, CFB Summerside, and Ottawa. Ken also served a tour of duty in the middle east with the United Nations Emergency Forces in the early 1970s. After retiring from the military as a Chief Warrant Officer, Ken worked for Public Works Canada in Ottawa for several years.

Ken was married to Mina (Walker) in 1954 and lost her to cancer in 1979. Together they had two children, Susan and Alan. In 1991, Ken married the second love of his life, Ruth (Richardson) and they remained happily married until Ken's passing.

Ken is predeceased by his parents Mike and Florence; wife Mina; sisters Florence Davies and Shirley Bergman, several members of his extended family and many good friends.

Ken is survived by his loving wife Ruth, his brother Bill (Carol); daughter Susan; son Alan (Susie); grandson Russell (Caroline) and great grandson Alexander. Ken also leaves two stepdaughters Christine Pennell (Keith Davis) and Barbara Gardner, as well as three step-grandsons Ryland Pennell-Davis, Justin and Brandon Gardner; his brother and sister-in law Jim and Joan Peach, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ken lived a full and rich life and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

At Ken's request no public services will be held and a private internment of his ashes will take place at a later date in Halifax.
