October 17, 1927 - September 4, 2019
"I wasn't the best runner, so I just made sure I hit a home run‎."

Ken Perry passed away peacefully on September 4, 2019 with his three daughters at his bedside.
He was predeceased by his wife of more than 50 years, Rhea. After a long career working in construction as a supervisor, carpenter and millwright in Vancouver, Terrace and across north-western BC, Ken and Rhea retired to Oyster River 24 years ago to be closer to their much-loved grandson Kenneth Andrew Harris, and Andrew's parents, daughter Brenda and son-in-law Rob Harris.
Ken seized every opportunity to travel and visited his daughter Sheila‎ in Ireland, Calgary, St. John's, Woodstock, Mason City, and drove from Ontario through his birthplace in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan to BC. Dad also visited his daughter Karen in Glasgow, Oxford, Ottawa, Toronto and Edmonton. With Brenda, he cruised the Caribbean and enjoyed the delights of Disneyland. Ken also loved visiting his sister Ruth, his many nieces and nephews on Vancouver Island, in Vancouver and Winnipeg. His greatest adventure however was when he visited with his cousins and their children and travelled through Japan, the Outback, Adelaide, Sydney, and across south-eastern Australia.
Ken also loved all animals and opened his heart and home to many dogs and cats, fed hummingbirds and crows and was happy to see deer bedded down under the trees in his garden.
Our dad lived according to the advice he gave his grandson by not necessarily being fast, but by hitting home runs in everything he did. We miss him and our hearts will be heavy for a very long time.
A memorial tea will be held in the future. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations made to the BC SPCA or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
