In Loving Memory ~
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Kenneth Michael Werner on January 15, 2022, in Nanaimo B.C., at the age of 63 years.
Ken is survived by his mother Myrtle, stepfather McKay, loving partner Cathy, his children Brandon and Jessica (Cory); his grandchildren Jack and Isabelle; his sisters Linda, Glenna (Tom), and Jackie (Walter); as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Ken was predeceased by his father Julius Werner, brother Terry Werner, and his wife Shelley Werner (nee Harrison).
Ken grew up in Edmonton, Alberta where he found his passion of social work and met and married his wife Shelley in 1994. Together they moved with their two children to Nanaimo in 2003.
Ken was a man of great wisdom and provided comfort and love to all that knew him. With an incredible sense of humour, Ken could be seen at any given time laughing around his kitchen table with a group of his friends. Ken had a deep love for music, exploration, and animals.
His favourite hobby was caring for his beautiful fish tanks, and later in life, bonding with his favourite dog Buddy. Ken's calm nature and sound advice will be sorely missed.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to doctors Carlson, Denegre, Janssen, and Wallach, Leah and Pia from home care, and a very special thank you to Cathy, who honoured Ken's wishes by providing excellent loving care for him at home.
A celebration of life BBQ will be held at a later date in the summer as per Ken's request.
