June 4, 1934 - July 21, 2020
Ken was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Ethel and Fred Scott. Many years of his youth were lived in the Breton/Mayerthorpe area of Alberta.
As a young man, Ken joined the RCMP, where one of his postings was in the Musical Ride. He was eventually posted to Campbell River in 1953 where he met his future wife Ruth Ellis. Ken and Ruth enjoyed 51 years of marriage and were blessed with three daughters; Heather, Beverley, and Sherrie.
After he served with the RCMP Ken went on to work in the local Pulp and Paper mill for over 30 years. Ken was predeceased by his wife Ruth in 2008. In 2009 Ken married Patrica Guderjan. Ken is survived by his wife, Patricia, his daughters Heather Finlay (Pat), Beverley Jones (Greg), Sherrie van Akker (Ron), grandchildren Kristen, Kimberly, Stephanie (Sterling), Kendra, Ryan and James (Tina), great grandchildren Isabelle and Noah, and many nieces and nephews.
Ken was a very loving Father who enjoyed family history and gatherings. He was a man who loved to help others by serving in his church, and as a cancer van driver. Ken loved to be around people and quite often had a joke to tell. He was a kind-hearted, gentle man who everyone loved to be around. Later in life he learned to play bridge and he developed a passion for it.
Ken was diagnosed with advanced Leukemia on July 5th, and was hospitalized for 2 weeks before passing away. While the end came very quickly, we are grateful for such a short time of suffering.
Special thanks to Dr Prinsloo, the health care team and nurses on 3A at the Campbell River hospital.
The family will be planning a private ceremony some time in the near future.
