October 3, 1945 - November 1, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Gordon Smith.
Ken was a devoted husband to Suzette for 54 years. He was a proud father to: Andrew (Rhonda), Corey (Leah) and Ryan (Elissa) and a loving Papa to his grandchildren: Clayton, Caleb, Kyle, Sarah, Breanne, Owen, and Everett. Ken was predeceased by his parents Fred and Janet Smith and his sister, Thelma Mayhew. Ken will also be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Sally, nieces Tracy and Amanda and nephews: Norman, Donald and Kenneth.
Ken was born in Lethbridge, Alberta to Fred and Janet Smith. He lived in Blairmore, Penticton and Powell River before moving to Duncan. Ken worked in his parents' drugstores before starting at the Crofton Pulp Mill in 1965 where he worked until retirement.
Ken's hobby was working in his shop making wooden garden ornaments and Christmas scenes. Ken & Sue enjoyed many years camping together. He was a member of the Duncan Fire Department and the Lions Club. He loved NASCAR and belonged to a race club where he made many good friends over the years.
Many thanks to Dr. Kubatskyy, the Nanaimo Kidney Clinic, and staff at CDH for all their great care. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. A tea for family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at 1632 Shoreview Way, Duncan, BC.
