February 1, 1943 - January 16, 2022
Our family very sadly announces the passing of our Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa after a lengthy battle with cancer. He is now back with the love of his life, his wife Barb.
Predeceased by his wife Barb and son Donald.
Ken leaves behind his two children Cindy (Terry), Kenneth junior (Cheryl), daughter in law Cindy, grandchildren Tonielle, Taylor, Alexandra, Amanda, Casey, Shelby, Stephanie. Great grandchildren Hayden, Trey, Kova, Addison.
Ken was born in Essex, ON on a large farm where he spent most of his childhood. Met Barb and eventually came out west. They had the travel bug early in life. Ken worked as a charge hand in the pulp mill for 36 years (He retired on his birthday 24 years ago).
There wasn't a harder working person than Ken. Always a project on the go, be it building a house to building barns to building a sailboat! Nothing stopped him, he always found a way.
He was the most resilient man you could ever meet (As his son Ken Jr would say: Tough as nails!) Ken was certainly before his time in so many ways.
Ken's sense of humor was second to none, his quick wit paired with his smarts were a perfect combination.
He always made the person he was conversing with top priority, you always knew he cared about you.
Ken was very social and had many friends at home and down south. His presence will definitely be missed by all that knew him. In retirement, Ken and Barb enjoyed life to the fullest, they are together again, putting together their next great adventures.
We are very lucky to have two exceptional nurses in our family, Shelby and Cheryl. Ken's care was second to none, he was so very thankful as were we all.
In keeping with Ken's wishes, no service will be held.
This is not a goodbye, you are with all of us in our hearts and souls: Today and Everyday. Love you.
The family thanks all of the amazing nurses and staff at Ty Watson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken's memory to Alberni Valley Hospice/Ty Watson House - 2579 10th Ave, Port Alberni, BC, V9Y1Z8.
