It is with sadness we announce the passing of our 96-year old mother, grandma, great-grandma (GG), aunt, cousin and friend—Katherine, "Kay" (nee Pitzer) Ferrero, Spoor of Nanaimo, B.C.
Kay was born and raised in Victoria, BC. and met her first husband, George Ferrero, there. They were married in 1945, and had two sons. George pre-deceased Kay in 1985.
She met her second husband, Donald Spoor, through family friends. They wed in 1993, and moved to Colorado where Don resided. After his passing in 2004, she moved to Nanaimo.
Kay is survived by her two sons, Edwin (Beverly) and David (Wendi); stepdaughters Holly (Ed) and Heidi (Cindy); grandchildren Scott (Donna), Ruth (Michael), Joel, Lydia (Mark), Shannon (Robb), Matthew (Jenn), Devan (Dan), Michelle, Jen, Tyler (Kerry); 19 great grandchildren; and numerous, much loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff and professionals at Woodgrove Manor, in Nanaimo, who treated Kay with such kindness and dignity over the last 5 years.
There is no service by request. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
