May 3, 1945 - January 18, 2022
On January 18, 2022 at the age of 76 years, Karen Edkins, cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to many, passed away peacefully surrounded by love at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. Karen is now in a better place, free from pain.
Married May 29, 1965, Karen will be deeply missed by Alan, her husband of nearly 57 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons: Michael and Kevin; six grandchildren: Jacob, Crystal, Emily, Kayley, Jackson, Austin; great grandson Logan; older brother Rocky Wise; sister Glenda (Gary) LaCroix; and younger brother Randy (Denise) Wise.
Born in Duncan on May 3, 1945, Karen grew up in Lake Cowichan and held many treasured memories of her childhood there. For 25 years she fought Rheumatoid Arthritis, Scleroderma mixed connective tissue disease, Diabetes and continuous racking pain. Her final fight against Fourniers gangrene proved too much for this strong willed woman and she went to a better world while her husband Alan, son Kevin and sister Glenda held her hands.
Due to the COVID-19, a Service and Reception in her honour will be held at a later date.
In the interim, it was Karen's wish that memorial donations be made in her name directly to the Diabetes and Rheumatoid Arthritis Associations of BC.
