June went to heaven peacefully amid many of her friends and relatives.
June Webber – Nee Lavoie was born June 6th 1928 in Port Arthur, Ontario. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Bob, her daughter Susan, her parents, her sibling Ray, Marcel, Maureen, Annette, Georgette, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by a sister Patti, by four grandchildren; Alanna, Dianna, Kayline and Shawna. And by many great grandchildren, by a sister-in-law Janet in Florida, by a treasured niece Bonnie (Jay) and her sibling in Thunder Bay.
June was the oldest of seven siblings. She married Captain Bob Webber, the life of her life of 51 years, in Port Arthur, Ontario in 1948. They adopted Susan a three weeks old in 1957. June, Bob and Susan went on the live in Victoria, Hamilton, Cornwallis and the Comox Valley in Canada. Overseas they lived in; Paris, France, Kifissia, Greece, Cairo Egypt and Tokyo Japan, where they traveled the world including Twenty eight more countries some of them many times.
June could turn her hand to do many jobs and she did so, by becoming a practical nurse, a day care owner, a model, a telecommunications operator and supervisor, a message sender and decoded, a book author, a caterer, and a T.V. chef in Japan and Courtenay and with CHEK in Victoria, BC. She taught culinary arts in Greece, Japan and Canada. This after becoming a Chef De Cuisine in Paris France, a dream which came true for her when Bobs’ first posting was at the Canadian Embassy in Paris. June also wrote a food column for four newspapers.
She also did volunteering in every country that she lived in. June loved people above all else. She also loved to sing in the choir, dance, read, sew, knit, animals, babies, painting canvasses, card making and of course cooking for friends.
June loved her adopted friends and all the indigenous ladies who let her drum with them. Her many sorority sisters who were so good to her, especially when they saw her through many surgeries and broken bones.
June greatly treasured her time spent in Japan doing layouts for 4 gourmet magazines, 2 hotel magazines and 2 test kitchens making new recipes. In spite of constant pain it was an interesting life at the Canadian Embassy in Paris. June also wrote a food column for four newspapers. She also did volunteering in every country that she lived in. She also became Overwaitea’s first food demonstrator and coordinator. Junes’ last endeavour was a business that she owned and operated called June’s Gourmet Mustard. That one ended after 6 years, because her lifelong arthritic pain became too severe for her to cope.
In lieu of flowers donations in Junes name to the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
