August 6, 1955 - June 21, 2025

In loving memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Julie-Ann Marie Wright on June 21, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on August 6, 1955, in the Comox Valley, Julie lived a life marked by dedication, compassion, and quiet strength.

For over 50 years, Julie devoted herself to the IWA/United Steelworkers, bringing the same unwavering commitment and integrity that defined every aspect of her life. Known for her intelligence and pragmatic nature, she had a remarkable gift for remaining calm and steady during life's most challenging moments.

Julie was a woman of rich and varied passions. Her deep love of gardening was matched by her encyclopedic knowledge of plants, and she filled her home with many beloved pets throughout the years.

A gifted cook, she created delicious homemade jams, relishes, and preserves that brought joy to family and friends. With impeccable taste in music, good style, and an eye for quality entertainment, she became the go-to source for the perfect recipe recommendation or must-watch movies and television shows.

She found balance through her yoga classes and took great pride in decorating the homes she built with Larry. She found peace at her family cabin, treasured recent travels through Europe with her children, and never missed her annual tradition of attending the Vancouver International Film Festival and eating out with her daughter.

Above all, Julie was a devoted mother who supported her children wholeheartedly in every endeavor. Her natural warmth, kindness, and genuine acceptance of all people touched everyone she encountered. Endlessly curious about the world and consistently putting others before herself, she left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Julie is survived by her beloved husband Larry James Wright; her daughter Kathleen; her son Garret and his partner Haley; her step-daughter Korie; her grandson Tylan; her brother Rick; and her lifelong best friend Denise, whom she met in middle school home economics.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada or the Comox Valley Hospice Society.
