On the afternoon of Sunday, January 20, 2019 Joyce slipped peacefully away, surrounded by her family's love. Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Roland, and will be deeply missed by her children Blair, Kevin (Loree-Anne), Marvelee Papaloukas (John), Trevor (Susan), grandchildren Tyler (Jermelyn), Whitney (Eric), Luke, Jeremy, Eric, Cody, Morgan, Loukas and Alexander and great-grandchildren Grace and Claire, brother Raymond Claydon (Marj), sisters-in-law Doreen Skillen, Denise Taylor (Doug), Lorraine Oliver (Gary) and Doreen Despins and many beloved family and friends.

Born in Manitoba, Joyce became a teacher before meeting Roland at a Saturday night dance. They married in 1955 and moved to Sayward, B.C. Joyce resumed her teaching career and later ran her own kindergarten and preschool. She was active in the community and a proud Legion Ladies Auxiliary member. Joyce loved time spent with family and friends, crossword puzzles, gardening, hummingbirds visiting her feeders, peaches, chasing cruise ships, country music, volunteer work, knitting and quilting. Her cinnamon buns were legendary. Joyce and Roland are waltzing together once again.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sayward Legion Hall on Saturday, February 2. Service at noon followed by refreshments and reminiscing. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Joyce's name to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #147 or Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock.
