Joseph (Joe) Cooper Arthur

April 11, 1940 – August 12, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph (Joe) Cooper Arthur announce his passing on Aug. 12, 2022. Joe, born in Glasgow, Scotland was son to Joseph and Charlotte Arthur, brother to Isa (Jim) Horn (Leics., England) and Charlotte (Jim) Moore (Parksville, BC). As a young man he loved swimming, diving and dancing. Joe immigrated to Canada with his wife and two daughters in 1966. A Tool and Die Maker, by trade, Joe retired in 2005 as a supervisor for Daimler Chrysler in Ontario. He moved to Parksville in 2010 and often called it “heaven on earth”. He enjoyed golfing, lawn bowling, reading, and caring for his wee dog, Lulu.
Joe was a beloved Dad to his daughters, Karen (Edwin) and Louise (Mike). He was Granda to Ryan (Natalie), Jared (Nastasia), Grant (Heather), Luke (Charity), Shannon (Tommy), Sean and great-grandad to Belle and Isla. To Leah, Jacqueline, Kenny and Allison, he was Uncle Joe.
The sadness of losing you, Dad, is eclipsed by the joy of knowing that you are no longer suffering. You are free to be with Jesus and enjoy all that he has prepared for you.
“No eye has seen, nor ear heard, what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Cor. 2:9
Thank you to all of Joe’s palliative home-support team that consistently cared for him with compassion in his last couple of months. God bless each one of you for the meaningful work you do.
Joe’s life will be celebrated with a private family event.
