Joseph James George Wedge

In Loving Memory ~
Our beloved George passed away after a short illness on September 15, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 77.
He is survived by his mother Jacqueline Aubochon of Montreal. George is dearly missed by his wife Jane of Courtenay (55 years) and he leaves behind his 2 daughters Laura Stevens (Robert) of Comox and Cheryl Dingjan (Sonny) of Nanaimo. He also adored his granddaughters Carmen Stevens (Eric) and Danielle Stevens.
He will be dearly missed by his brother Roger Wedge (Judy) of New Brunswick and sister Christianne Wedge (Claude) of Quebec plus there are many more relatives and friends that are sadden by his passing.
Of course, he will also be missed by his little dog buddies Beau, Jerry and Bruin.
George was born in Campbellton, NB and grew up in Dalhousie, NB. His first job was at the local paper mill before he joined the air force as a Military Police for 27 years. During that time, he lived in many countries both with and without his family including Germany, Egypt, Cyprus and Norway. But always a family man he finally retired and settled in Courtenay.
He worked first at Zellers for 6 years then moved on to HCMS Quadra as Regulating Officer in Charge. He then became the by-law officer with the city of Courtenay for 15 years. He always did his jobs with pride and was often recognized for his achievements.
He truly enjoyed his years of travel as well, mostly cruising. During a fun cruise to Hawaii, he and his daughter got themselves ukuleles and learned to play.
He enjoyed bowling, wood working and painting. His latest hobby was collecting flags, books, and DVDs. And boy did he collect! Although thorough at what he did he had a very tender heart and was definitely the family clown.
We want to thank all the team of doctors, nurses and care aids at Comox Valley General Hospital and specialists from all over the island. Particularly Dr. Green and Dr. Brais for supporting him and the family for all these years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday October 9, 2022 at the Florence Filberg Centre lower floor from 1-3 pm.
