John Shaneman

August 30, 1941 – January 31, 2022
So I am about to write my own obituary. Yikes.
John Shaneman, auto mechanic, died January 31st, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
I was 80 years old, and my ‘uniform’ just plain wore out. I will be survived by my loving partner, Joanna, and two daughters, Melissa and Emilie, and two step-children, Lilith and, Julian and two grandchildren, Blair and Genevieve, my two brothers and many Johnston cousins as well as many friends dear to me.
I might be remembered as someone searching for life’s mystery that I may have found, but probably not. I was a lover of nature and bird watching, and of driving with Joanna in our old Dodge vans to parts unknown.
I enjoyed playing golf and was very proud of the time I got two holes-in-one. I eventually had my own small shop on Burnside Road and had many faithful customers. I would like there to be a party/wake for me on top of Mt. Provost in Duncan. Bring your clubs. I have the balls.
John’s family is grateful to Victoria Hospice and VIHA community nurses for their superlative care. A celebration of life will take place with family only due to pandemic restrictions. For more about John, go to dignitymemorial.comObituary
