Jack was born to Uno and Ellen Nylund in Vancouver BC and resided there until moving to the Comox Valley. Jack met his future wife Mary in 1950 and they dated for 3 years before marrying in 1953.

Over the years Jack and Mary had 4 children; Colleen, Sandra, Jack Jr. and Darren. The family lived in Horne Lake until 1968 when they moved to Royston.

Jack was a logger for the majority of his working years and once he retired he became known to many as "Jack the lawn mower guy". He was always there with a beer, a smile and a story. Jack's favourite past times were tinkering in the shop and visiting the boys at Walkers Scrap Metal.

All of the grandchildren will always remember Papa for his sweet tooth. They couldn't wait to sneak a candy from his old beer stein candy dish when mom and dad weren't looking. He was always a willing accomplice with a twinkle in his eye.

Jack is predeceased by his beloved daughter Colleen and survived by his loving wife Mary, daughter Sandra (Roy), son Jack (Jenny) and son Darren (Marina).

He is also survived and lovingly remembered by numerous grand and great grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to Piercy's Funeral Home.

There will be no service at Jack's request.
