1934-2020 ~ John Molnar was 86 years old and living at Stanford Senior's Residence in Parksville at the time of his passing on Dec 26th.
John grew up in Hungary during the depression and WWII before escaping the Communist insurrection in Hungary in 1957.
He lived in Port Alberni for 60 years and loved every moment of it. He enjoyed gardening, wine making, and salmon fishing as well as his career on the waterfront as a longshoreman for 37 years. He was fond of the Alberni inlet but also enjoyed time swimming at Sproat Lake and Papermill Dam.
John was predeceased by his wife Berit (Bea) Molnar of 33 years. His mother Maria Goda, and his step-daughter Marianne Becket.
He is survived by his son Erik John Molnar, daughter-in-law Linnea Molnar, grandson's Tomas and Alexander Molnar of Kamloops. As well as his step-son Daniel Trapp and his spouse Susan Alexiou of Port Coquitlam.
