May 28, 1934 – December 24, 2021
In loving memory ~
John Harvey George Faulkner passed away peacefully on December 24, 2021, returning to the arms of his wife, Verna, who passed away in February 2021. He was a caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to five children – Sherry, Bobe, Glen, Geri (Ron), and Vicki (Bob) – 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
John was born at home to Elizabeth and Harvey Faulkner at his family’s homestead in Park Siding, B.C. on May 28, 1934. John was the youngest and only boy of seven children and was the last surviving sibling from his family.
After he met and married Verna in 1954, his wife of 66 years, John joined the Air Force where he worked as an Aircraft Mechanic until his retirement in 1985. They began their family in 1955 and later moved to Cumberland B.C., where he and Verna raised their children. John participated in several peacekeeping missions and was stationed in multiple locations during his career. He was also a Grand Master of the Cumberland Masonic Lodge and took great pride in upholding that honour. Upon retiring from his career with the military, John and Verna settled in Campbell River, B.C., where they happily lived for 36 years.
A devoted father and husband, John always worked hard to ensure his family was taken care of. After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and could often be found chopping and stacking wood or cheering on the Edmonton Oilers Hockey team. A humble man, John will always be remembered for his sweet demeanor, his determined nature, and his ability to make everyone feel at ease. John’s memory lives on through his family and love, two things he couldn’t live without.
There will be no service, by request, but John can be remembered by planting a garden, walking on the beach, or enjoying a wood stove fire – some of his favourite things.
