May 4, 1954 - May 22, 2020
John Edward Harshey Jr. sadly passed away on May 22, 2020 with his children by his side.
He was born in Rivers, Manitoba on May 4, 1954. He had a great soul and was a genuine person with a heart of gold. He had an uncanny way of connecting with people that will never be forgotten. He made you feel like family whether you knew him for two minutes or 20 years. John dedicated his life to his family and friends and has left his children aspiring to carry on his traditions, his love and his spirit, forever.
John was an avid outdoorsman who was very proud of his career in the logging industry, and his strong Cumberland roots. His greatest joy was being the best Dad for his children. He also found great happiness in providing support and a helping hand to everyone around him. John loved spending time outdoors camping, fishing, hunting, and working outside in his yard. His favorite thing was sitting around the campfire at home, or at Paterson Lake, telling stories with his family and friends.
John married his first wife Joyce Bihun early in his life and together their lives were blessed with their daughter, Teneane Harshey. He then married Caprice Salter and together they had four children: Ryan, Daniel, Brittany and Caitlyn Harshey. Later in life, he met his spouse Beverly Zarantonello and together they fulfilled the remaining years of his life together.
John was predeceased by his parents; Kathleen and John Harshey Sr.; sister, Sandra Harshey, and son Ryan Harshey.
John is survived by his son, Daniel Harshey (Megan), his daughters; Teneane Gooch (Simon), Brittany Harshey, Caitlyn Harshey; granddaughter, Olivia Gooch; spouse, Beverly Zarantonello; sisters, Susanne Lebrun (Jim), Mary Harshey, Jean Pauls (Pete), and brother Michael Harshey (Penny).
Please keep sharing your memories of John and reminiscing about the good times you had with him. Rest in peace our Dad, our Coach, our Papa and Best friend.
"Your babies will always love you more."
A celebration of life will be held on a date yet to be determined.
