March 15, 2021
1055-2021 ~ "It is time to float the boat" was the instruction we were given. John Barnsdale passed away on his terms with his family by his side on Monday, March 15th, 2021.
John was a hard-working man of his word, a handshake was his bond. He had a wicked wit and a sense of humor that could have made him a high-paying living.
Born in Kingston, Ontario in 1955, he spent his youth working on fishing and hunting skills that were strong passions for the rest of his life.
He moved to the Island and fell in love with the surroundings and with his wife, and they loved and were married for 37 years. He loved the outdoors and spent as much time as allowed fishing, hunting, golfing, and picking mushrooms. He shared these activities with many friends, but never shared his secret spots!
John is survived by his wife, Jenette, sister Sherran Dermott, father Walter Barnsdale, daughter Kelly Spanach (Rob), grandchildren Samantha (mini hog), and Jaxon. His sons that filled John with pride - Brandon and Dylan Barnsdale, granddaughter Daykota Hepfner (Cody), and very recently great-granddaughter Piper Alice. Oldest and dearest childhood friends, Mouse and Randy.
His mother Joyce McLean passed away in January 2020.
John's 'kull' friends (you know who you are) meant everything to him and he loved the time spent on the boat, in the forest, and on the golf course.
Though his passing was quick, the time we got to spend with our husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend was a joy that will last us a lifetime.
John's wish for us all is to be happy, and make the most of our time. In his memory, we are encouraging all to donate to causes that make you happy, even if it's your local bar.
