September 27, 1945 - September 27, 2020
Born September 27, 1945 on Salt Spring Island to Joseph and Eleanor Campbell. Passed away peacefully on his birthday September 27 2020 in the Cowichan District Hospital.
Dad worked in the logging industry for many years all over the island and mainland, if he was not logging, he was tinkering on something whether it be on the old tug boat, his Mack truck, other vehicles or whatever he could get his hands on.
He was always ready to lend a hand to a friend, many of those in the Cowichan Valley.
Dad was sick for a very long time but he was a man of nine lives, many times over the last 27 years we were told he did not have long, but he always proved his doctors and specialists wrong. Even before he passed, he was talking about things he was going to do when he was out of hospital.
Dad was predeceased in death by his parents Joseph and Eleanor, sister Joyce, brother Lester, Uncle Baden, and his grandson Matthew. He is survived by his family Joanne Jenner, Cowichan Bay (ex-wife), sons Les Campbell of Duncan, David Campbell (Helen) Port Alberni and his daughter Beverly Mackey (Philip) Virginia. Grandchildren Shanda, Melissa Shaw (Alex), Robyn Gunton (Jack), Evin Moore, Katie Mackey, Mariah Campbell and his five great-grandchildren: Kaidyn, Drevyn, Saxyn, Matyx and Amelia, and many other extended family members throughout BC and AB.
Dad had many people in his life that were special to him, more than we personally knew. Pearl Drummond was one of these people, she was the one he wanted with him in the hospital when his time grew near.
There will be no funeral or service, instead, when we are able to gather again, we will have a celebration of Dads life in 2021.
Lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Cancer Society of your choice. Cremation is being done by Affordable Cremation & Burial of Victoria BC.
