It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Al MacKenzie. Predeceased by wife Betty, his greatest love in this life and next, and son Randy, Al is survived by daughters Lori (Keith) Lien and Candy Einfeld. Al also leaves behind granddaughters Kelli (Dillon) Finskars, Kimberly Lien, Angel Talbot, Shantelle Einfeld, great granddaughters Jordyn Lien and Isabella & Caitrina Finskars.
Al is also survived by his brother Ray (Laura) MacKenzie, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Al was an adventurer at heart who traveled the world. His love of the sea led him to work on cruise ships, the Coast Guard and Seaspan. His many tattoos told his story better than words - they depicted a life of hard work, exploration and the bond of brotherhood.
A good humoured soul, Al was always ready with a joke or anecdote and inspired many with his tales both true and tall. He volunteered his time as a clown for the Shrine, offering laughter and smiles to those who needed it most.
Though Al was famous for his pranks, he was most known for his pockets full of candy, handing out treats wherever he went, to children and adults alike. Photography, bonsai and woodwork were among his many hobbies. Al also published his own book of poetry, revealing a romantic nature only known to those closest to him.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held at a later date.
