It is with great sadness we announce passing of a special man Joe Mulder after a courageous 10 1/2 year battle with cancer. He was known to many as Joop.
Joe was born on November 29, 1947 in Holland and came to Canada in 1969. Joe had a long and successful career as a food broker, selling import products for Holtzheuser Brothers Ltd. And Elco Fine Foods. He was also a long standing member of the ACT. After his retirement in 2013, Joe loved to garden and spend time enjoying the birds in the backyard with a glass of wine.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Maureen "Moe"; three sons: Jeff (Lisa), Jeremy (Erika), and David (Janet); one daughter Myrna; four grandchildren: Aly, Andrew, Jared, and Miller; a brother in San Francisco; and one brother and two sisters in Holland.
Many thanks to Dr. Masuda, the third floor cancer unit staff at Cowichan District Hospital and everyone at Oyster Harbour who took such special care of Joe in his last days.
He will be deeply missed by us all, but we know Joe is at peace.
