March 14, 2021
With grace and fortitude, Anne passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at the age of 92. Born in Enschede, The Netherlands, she was one of eight children, and shared a special connection with her siblings and their families. Being a child during WWII taught Anne gratitude and resiliency that she modelled throughout her life.
Anne was introduced to her future husband, Jack, just 6 weeks before he immigrated to Canada. Recognizing this man as the love of her life, she followed in his footsteps one year later and they were married on Kuper Island (Penelakut) on March 28, 1953.
Anne will be greatly missed by her family; husband Jack (d. 2010), to whom she was devotedly married for 57 years; children, Fred (Diane), Paul (Anna), Astrid (John), Mieke (David), Jacqueline, and Johanna (David).
She cherished and was cherished by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She made all who called her Oma or Tante Annie feel loved and special. There was always a bowl of soup waiting for anyone who visited the farm on Cedar Road. You were sure to leave with fresh vegetables, a dozen eggs and a Dutch treat!
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Pienaar, the kind Brio staff at Berwick on the Lake, and the tender compassionate care from Vancouver Island Caregivers. Anne was blessed with many loving hands.
