It is with great sadness that the family of Jocelyn “Jonnie” Murdoch announces her passing on Sunday December 31, 2017 at the age of 82 at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital in Saanichton BC.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband B Gen William Murdoch (ret’d) of 20 years, her daughters Julie-Ann (Brian) and Karen, step-children Lynn, Trent (Carolin) and Tracy (Jean-Francois), grandchildren Madison, Sydney-Shaye, Spencer, Victoria, Aidan, Holly, Nicole, Larisa, Payton and Hannah, sister Elizabeth and nieces and nephews Brenda, Teresa (Bob), Christine and Dianne.
An obstetrics, labour and delivery nurse and mid-wife during her career in England, Jonnie moved back to Canada and was an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Listowel Hospital, CNIB and the Cancer Society earning her the Citizen of the Year award in 1980 while living in Ontario.
After her marriage to William, she moved to Sidney by the Sea, BC where they enjoyed their retirement and golden years together.
In keeping with Jonnie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Donations can made to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
The family wishes to thank the Saanich Peninsula Hospital doctors, nurses and staff for the loving care and consideration provided to Jonnie.
