Joan Bernice Putney

In loving memory ~
Joan passed peacefully, with her children by her side, August 15, 2022. Predeceased by her husband Donn, son Randy, father Maxwell Barnes, mother Cecelia Barnes, sister Mary Hall and brother Osbourne Barnes.
Mom lives on in the memory of her children Lee (Heather) and Penny, grandchildren Christopher, Tina (Jason), Brian (Sarah) and great grandchildren Tyler and Zoey, brothers Robert Barnes and John Barnes. She will also be remembered by her besties "Miss Anne" and "Mr. Jim" Scott.
Born in Strathadam New Brunswick, Joan relocated at a young age to Hamilton Ontario. In 1975 Joan, husband Donn and their children relocated to Sooke, B.C. where Joan remained until 1995 when she relocated to Langford after Donn's passing.
Joan was a fixture at Sooke Arena from the year it opened until her retirement in 1994. She was a charter member of the Sooke Lioness Club, District President for two terms for 19-I Lioness and Multiple District Lioness Chair. Recipient of Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship for Dog Guides Award.
Much gratitude and thanks to Dr.'s Vaughan and the staff at Gorge Road Hospital, Arbutus View for the care, kindness and love they provided Mom. "Mr. Pickle", "Mr. George", Damien, Kao, Candace, Petina, Lorance and too many others to mention - the kindness and love you showed Mom will never be forgotten.
She was a beautiful sole that left us with beautiful memories, no one spread more love in one lifetime. You may be gone from our sight Mom but you will live forever in our hearts.
Private family cremation and internment.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 1st at 1 p.m. at Sands Funeral Chapel on Goldstream Avenue.
