In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that the family of Jerry Stanley Joseph announce his passing on June 19th at the age of 80.
Jerry was predeceased by his mother, Anne (2008), and father, Stan (1971 - logging accident). He will be deeply missed by his brother Al, sister Carol (Art), niece Lisa, nephews David, Matt, Nick, Randall and Dan, friends Shaun and Jaime, and lifelong friends Vivian and Tom.
Jerry was born in Campbell River and raised in Port Alberni. Growing up, he enjoyed fishing with his Dad and brother in the Alberni Canal and participating in the annual Tyee Derby. After leaving school, he worked most of his life as a logger and took an early retirement from MacMillan and Bloedel in 1998 at the age of 56.
He loved to cook and shop and always kept a well-stocked kitchen with all the latest appliances. Jerry had a great sense of humour and loved watching the old classic T.V. series, among his favourite being "Hogan's Heroes". He also loved meeting his friends, especially his old buddy, John, for coffee.
Jerry was a thoughtful and generous brother and uncle and a loving and devoted son who helped his mother throughout her life, especially in her final years. He never missed a day visiting his Mom at the Trillium Lodge Care Home, assisting her in any way he could
Sadly, in 2019 he suffered a life-altering stroke during open heart surgery. The following years were difficult for him, but Jerry was brave and pushed on the best he could. Our family wishes to thank the nurses at the Nanaimo Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and service.
