February 1, 2021
It is with great sadness and peace that we tell the world of the passing of Jeannette Mavis Morneau's (nee Wakelyn) on February 1st, 2021.
Jeannette is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Maurice, her children Terri, Wayne (Annie), and Ken (Lesley), and her Grandchildren Eric, Jamie (Hayden), Sydney, Reece, Ayanna, Hong, and Roland.
Her sister Edwina Chalmers and brother David (Doris) Wakelyn, and our cousins. Jeannette was predeceased by her brother Douglas, sisters Lilly and Emily, and her parents Mary and Edwin Wakelyn.
Jeannette grew up in Victoria and spent her whole life with family and friends, from Cadboro Bay, Royal Oak to Courtenay, with much exploring and adventures along the way. Growing up on the beach gave way to cycling the Gulf islands, skiing the mountains, snowbirding, and swimming south of the border; she lived an adventurous life.
She was a loving wife, mentoring mother, the best gramma, sister, auntie, volunteer, coach, and lifelong friend to many.
Jeannette overcame adversities and was a compassionate and competitive leader/volunteer, a talented artist, quilter, and passionate gardener. Family was Jeannette's pride and joy!
Our family would like to give a Special Thank you to the Care team at Woodgrove Manor in Nanaimo, B.C., for their heartfelt care. Due to the Covid pandemic, there will be no gathering or service. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC, email: giving@alzheimerbc.org.
