In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce Janet's sudden passing at Trillium Lodge in Parksville BC, at age 87. She was predeceased by her loving husband Cliff (2018), her brother Alan, sister Beulah, son-in-law Ed and grandson Eric. Left to mourn are her children Lyn (Brian), Susan, Nancy (Rob), Patrick (Jennette), grandchildren Kevin (Jessica), Jennifer (Brenden), Rob (Janie), Clifton (Michelle), Karen, Becky (Megan), great grandchildren Gus, Piper, Rhiley and Darren. Also survived by her brother John, brother-in-law Bob, sister-in-law Delores, and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was born at King's Daughters Hospital in Duncan BC and grew up on Henry Rd, where she lived and raised her family next door to her childhood home. Mom lived in Chemainus all of her 87 years. Our mom had wide interests, and was so clever at so many things, from a very successful career selling Tupperware, to cooking in a care home, to being a Tai Chi instructor. She was very musical, played and taught piano, and dreamed of learning to play the cello which sadly didn't happen. She sewed all our clothes, baked bread for our packed lunches, and transformed their yard into a perennial jungle of blooms, complimented by Dad's perfect lawns. Once retired our parents travelled as far north as Alaska, and east to Saskatchewan in their RV. They enjoyed many camp outs on Quadra Island with family and friends. Mom loved her daily walks with her friends.
Mom was an exemplary Nana, taking interest in all her grandkids and greats. She knit and sewed for all of them, and made a multitude of beautiful quilts for all family members. There was always juice in the fridge and special treats in the "cupboard of awesomeness". Family dogs were also made welcome in their home.
We will miss mom's lively political debates and opinions, her wonderful sense of humour, her beautiful smile, and those endless cups of tea.
Our family thanks Dr. Manhas and Dr. Fletcher for their care, and the staff at Trillium Lodge for their kindness in caring for mom for the short time she was there.
