October 29, 1966 - November 4, 2020
Jane died peacefully at home on Hornby Island on November 4th in her 55th year.
She was finally set free after living for several years with cancer.
She leaves to grieve her husband, Jon, children, Celeste and Alex, mother, Janice Bearinger (Oscar), father, Martin Hagarty (Sue), sister, Vanessa Herron (Steve), mother-in-law, Serena Laskin, brother-in-law, James Laskin, sister-in-law Janessa Laskin (Eve) and many other family and friends.
Jane lived most of her adult life in southern California where she raised her children and was involved in the creative arts community. She founded a music school with her husband, Jon, organized music festivals and concerts, and fundraised for non-profit organizations.
She created an annual Recyclable Fashion Show and Art Show in collaboration with a local college. The City of Temecula recognized her recently for her contribution to their community and as an advocate for the arts. Jane was a devoted mother and she loved people.
Jane was born in Victoria, BC, grew up near Killaloe, Ontario, where she will be remembered as a free spirit by those who knew her, and moved to Courtenay when she was a teenager.
She gracefully accepted palliative care from her mother, sister and lifelong friends, Lisa Hooker and Tami Papania. Jane lived and died with grace. We will greatly miss her.
How lovely it was to live while you lived!
The world is bluer, the night more terrestrial, while I sleep,
Grown enormous, in the brief clasp of your hands.
(Pablo Neruda, Chilean Poet)
