October 22, 1933 - January 9, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Lorne Brownlee, January 9, 2022, in the long-term care unit of Nanaimo's Kiwanis Lodge.
Born October 22, 1933, in Charleston Ontario, Jim moved with his family to Nanaimo at the age of 13. He was affectionately known as "Jimmie" and spent many years on a bowling team and loved to ski the local mountains. He and his wife Norma liked to travel to Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii, and many other destinations in BC and Canada. Jim enjoyed the weekly coffee meets with friends and had many fond memories of all the friendships he made during his lifetime. Dad took up woodworking in his later years, and you would often find him in his shop working on any number of different projects.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Pearl Brownlee, sister Betty, brother Glen, and his wife Norma. He is survived by his daughter Lori (Jody) Graff, grandchildren Colby & Riley, stepdaughters' Rhonda (Wayne) Williams, grandsons Jordan & Brad, Donna (Lee) House, grandchildren Lisa, Laura, Lindsay & Jason, stepson Gerry Morley, grandchildren Tyler & Alisha, and great grandchildren, Brandon, Emma, Sabrina, Riley, Morley, Braiden, Brooklynn, Noah, and Charlotte.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful staff at Kiwanis Lodge for making dad's final days as comfortable as possible, and the many home support workers that made it possible for him to stay in his home for as long as he did. You are all angels, and we appreciate all that you do.
There will be no funeral service at Jim's request. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
