In Loving Memory ~
Jim passed away suddenly at home on April 5th at the age of 86. Predeceased by his wife, Pat, of 61 years he spent many happy years surrounded by family and friends that he held dear.
Jim was raised in Extension and lived most of his life in Nanaimo. Hard working, he started fishing, logging, and construction at a young age. In the early 60's he formed B & M Re-Steel with his partner, Rudy, leaving many structural legacies on Vancouver Island while providing a very good life for his family.
For over a decade he served his community as a member of the Departure Bay Volunteer Fire Department and as a hockey coach. A generous man, when he wasn't helping family or friends he filled his time hunting, fishing, camping, boating, bowling and golfing; and was a long-time member of the Nanaimo Yacht Club and the Nanaimo Fish & Game. Jim loved life and he loved to laugh; but as he told those close to him, he was ready so please do not be sad for him.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Laura (Andy) and son, Kevin (Kathy), grandchildren, Kerry (Jamie) and David (Katie) and Tessa, and five great-grandchildren; all who have brought him so much joy.
The family would like to thank Hermoyne and Bob for their companionship since Mom's passing. We would also like to thank Margaret and Carol from Comfort Keepers for taking such great care of him.
A celebration for Jim will be held July 13 from 12:30 - 3:30 at the Quarter way 256 Legion. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cancer Society in Dad's name.
