August 30, 2019
Jim was a loving father, husband, son, brother and friend. Born and raised in Duncan, BC, he lived a long and full life dedicated to his family, his church and his community. After a courageous battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 30, 2019.
He is predeceased by his first wife Sharon, and his parents George and Agnes.
He is survived by his wife Linda; daughters: Brenda, Jennifer, Catherine, and Anne Marie; stepchildren: Vicki, Joanne, Karen, David and Dale; twenty two grandchildren and a great-grandchild; ten siblings and their families; numerous relatives, and many close friends.
Jim had an unequaled zest for life and an inner strength matched only by his desire to make the world a better place. He was a hard-working community man, having spent most of his life in Duncan as a self-employed plumber, City Councillor, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and active volunteer in many other local organizations. An avid world traveller, he found peace and serenity going for walks, digging in his flower gardens and making wine from his home-grown grapes. Jim had a great sense of humor and always kept an amazingly positive outlook on life.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks for the tremendous family and community support. Special thanks also to the staff at CDH, the BC Cancer Agency in Victoria, and the wonderful team of doctors: Malherbe, Pewarchuk, Anzarut, Smith and Freeman.
For those wishing to pay their respects, Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 pm followed by Prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
