Jack Warner Backlund, eldest son of Jack and Eva Backlund, died on September 29, 2018. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Ethel (August 24, 2018); his son Freddy; his grandchildren, Christopher and Nicole and his brothers Jim and Fred. He is survived by his four daughters, Pat Egan, Betty McGonigle (Tim), Karen Unger (Richard), Susan St. Hilaire (Neil), his eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Dad was born in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, where his father worked in the Granada Mines. His youth was spent in Quebec and his teen and adult years on the West Coast. Upon moving to the Island, he worked in the logging camps, was a Millwright at Crofton Mill and at Bamberton. He also worked for various other companies, ending his working days as a Commissionaire. He was part of the Canadian Scottish Regiment. Dad taught us about woodworking, how to pluck and clean a chicken, making swings and that yelling at the TV made for better hockey. Sticking out his tongue was standard picture pose and oh yes, let's not forget that Backlund nose!

By request there will be no service. Dad and Mom together again for always.

We love you Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle Jack.
