July 6, 2022
Jack Morris passed away quietly, as he did most things, on the evening of July 6, 2022. Born in 1937 and raised in Saskatchewan, Jack was the eldest of five children. His siblings always looked up to Jack for his brilliant mind and subtle but sharp sense of humour.
Jack was an engineer, specializing in the structural and mechanical aspects of mining. He worked all over Canada - Uranium City, Esterhazy, Cassiar, Campbell River, North Vancouver, Keno Hill, St Catherine's and Thunder Bay. Jack also worked farther afield - in South America, the U.S. and, most memorably, Australia. It was there, as a young engineer, that Jack met Joyce Henkel, the auburn-haired beauty who swept him off his feet and to whom he was lucky enough to be married for 60 years.
Jack leaves behind his beloved wife Joy, siblings Bill (Karen), Mary Ann (Julian, predeceased), Jim (Sharon), Helen (Tony) as well as nieces and nephews Susan, David, Jan, Rob, Carolyn, Tanya, Ken and Katherine Pearl, grandnephews Aidan, Hudson, Paolo, Rowyn, Sam, McCoy and grandniece Poppy.
At Jack's request, there will be a private family memorial.
