Doug passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Comox Valley North Island Hospital on April 11th, 2018 two days before his 87th birthday.
Beloved husband of Ruth, father of Stephen (Tina), David (Linda), Michael (Carol). Doug will be missed by his grandchildren; Crystal, Christopher, Joshua, Mandy, Jordan, Brendan and great-granddaughter Tiffany.
He grew up in Ontario and was known for his love of sports. He played pro baseball in Michigan, U.S.A., and was a hockey goalie.
Doug was a teacher and later a principal in Ontario. He was an elected councillor in his home riding and while president of the Lion's Club organized the first Maple Syrup Festival in Elmvale.
