Isabel passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Hospice at the Views (St. Joseph's) at the age of 96 years. Predeceased by her husband Randy in 2011, she will be dearly missed by son Ian, grandchildren Valerie and Livia, and daughter Janet (Ron).
Born and raised in Calgary, then later moving to Edmonton, Isabel graduated from the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. In 1951 she attended McGill University, received her public health nurse certificate and embarked on a public health nurse career, travelling far and wide throughout the Kootenays, Interior and Northern BC before settling with Randy and their young family in the Comox Valley in 1965.
Always up for an adventure, Isabel had a lifelong interest in the outdoors, skiing well into her 80's and hiking into her 90's. She loved travel, camping, photography, flowers and entertaining, joining many clubs as well as helping those less fortunate. In Isabel's words "I've had a good life".
We will greatly miss her indomitable spirit and enthusiasm for life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Piercy's-Mt. Washington Funeral Home (440 England Ave. Courtenay).
