January 31, 1931 - January 15, 2021
Peacefully in her sleep at home in Nanaimo, B.C., in her 90th year.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Patricia (Norm Wilson) of Ottawa, and Ian (Sandra Schade) of Palmerston. She leaves bereft her dear grandsons, Mark and Andrew Wilson of Ottawa. Survived by her beloved sister Sylvia Kyle (Robert), sister-in-law Beryl Cleland (the late David), cousins, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Thomas and brothers David and Bert Cleland.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, she survived the bombardment of the city and resulting fires during World War II. She came to Canada with Sylvia in 1957, settling in Toronto. She married Thomas, an immigrant from Scotland, in 1959.
During their marriage, they lived in Toronto, Belfast, Oshawa, and Acton. After her husband's death, she moved to Nanaimo, where her brother Bert had settled. She made many friends and had a supportive church community (St. Andrew's Presbyterian) and neighbours in Nanaimo.
A private service will be held at a later date. In memoriam donations to the BC Professional Firefighters' Burn Fund (burnfund.org) or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
