In Loving Memory ~
Ian passed away at the age of 80 at the Views at St. Joseph's. Ian moved to The Comox Valley from Burnaby in 1967 to become one of the charter teachers at the new G.P. Vanier High School in Comox.
After several years of teaching, he changed careers and found his passion as a reporter and feature writer with the Comox Valley Free Press (aka the Green Sheet) and subsequently The Echo.
Ian loved to travel and found his happy place when vacationing in Hawaii. He loved the feel of the sun on his shoulders, warm sand under his feet and snorkeling over the reefs of the South Pacific. Perhaps he is there now, unfettered by his unrelenting and prolonged illness of the past few years.
Ian is survived by his wife Wendy and his brother Tony (Marilyn) of Victoria. Predeceased by his brother Colin and his parents George and Sylvia Lidster.
Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of the Views for their compassionate care of Ian over the past 6 years. Their kindness towards Ian was extraordinary and much appreciated.
