Hyunjoo Jeon-Lee

In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Hyunjoo Jeon- Lee, on January 30th, 2023 at 61 years of age.
She was an incredible wife, mother, sister, mentor, and friend to many all over the world, who was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her.
Starting her life in Seoul, South Korea, she graduated from Sejong University and worked as a writer in the advertisement industry where she met and fell in love with the love of her life Jae. She nurtured her entrepreneurial spirit with multiple businesses until she immigrated to Canada in 1997.
In Nanaimo, she accomplished many different things, and always tried to bring something new to the city. She started an international student agency in Nanaimo working closely with the school district to bring in students from Korea to live and study. She opened up the "Hello Kitty Store" in Woodgrove Mall back in the early 2000s, and was the owner of Namul Korean Restaurant on Rutherford Road.
She was a self-starter and an incredibly smart and hardworking woman. She loved classical and jazz music and loved to paint and sew her own clothing. She had impeccable style and loved to make and share food with everyone around her. She made sure to make everyone feel welcomed and loved, and she wanted nothing but happiness and success for all of her friends and family.
She leaves behind her two sons, Sean and John.
There will be a memorial service held on Monday, February 13th, at 1 P.M., at First Memorial Funeral Services on Bowen Rd.
