June 13, 2020
Hubert (Hugh) Sylvester Ogilvie passed away peacefully at the North Island Campbell River Hospital on June 13, 2020 at 90 years of age.
Hugh was born in Ponoka, AB, to parents Maggie and Rugg and was raised on the family farm along with his five brothers; Peter, William (Mickey), Fred, George and John and one sister, Katie. As a young man, Hugh joined the Air Force as a loadmaster in 1951 travelling the world, meeting many people including his first wife Marie (Forward). Together they had five children, Jim Ogilvie (Candy), Jackie Charytoniuk, Judy Barney (Evan), Jeff Ogilvie (Rose) and Janice Morin (Kevin). In 1965 he moved to Campbell River where he raised his family, and owned and operated "Hugh's Backhoe". Hugh was known for his kind heart, his storytelling, amazing memory, and for being a hardworking man. He loved doing his daily crossword, having a cold beer with a "quick" visit, dancing the night away and cheering on his favorite team, the Campbell River Storm.
Hugh is survived by his children and loving wife Joan Kryzanowski; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; his sister-in-laws Alice (Peter) and Marlene (George) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Hugh was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Marie, Lois, and his sister and brothers.
A Celebration of Hugh's life will take place once we can do so safely; details will be forthcoming. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Vancouver Island Heath Care Support team and Doctor Veerapen for dad's excellent care.
