November 30, 1942 - August 7, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Albert Hill. He is pre-deceased by his partner Clare Thompson, and brothers Ken, Don and Lyle. He is survived by his sons James Geoffrey Hill (Caroline Hill) and Bryan David Hill (Robert Johnston) who were born from his first marriage to Sharon Hill. He is also survived by his bothers Ray (Terez), Bud (Val), Bob (Brenda), Glen, and sister Karen (Jim), as well as many nieces and nephews. Howard served with the Canadian forces for 3 years. He retired after a 26 year career with the RCMP, having achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was long standing member of the Legion in Tsawwassen, BC. Howard spent many years exploring the BC coast with Clare and friends on his boat. He also had an active social life as a snowbird in AZ. His other interests included classic autos, DIY projects and computers. As a parent our father was willing to let us learn from experience. The role model he presented to my brother and I was that of a quiet and stable foundation, providing love and support without boundaries.
An in-person and virtual celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 in Courtenay, BC. Please contact Bryan at celebratehowardhill@gmail.com for location or access via the internet.
Howard's family is grateful to the staff of Comox Valley Hospital for all of their efforts to make his passing as comfortable as possible. With deep respect to the attending physicians for honouring his decisions in care.
