August 10, 1939 - September 29, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert Sheldon Forsyth on September 29, 2020. Herb passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family by his side.
Herb was born on August 10, 1939 in Chilliwack, BC. He was predeceased by his father Sheldon, his mother Reba and his brother Donald. Herb leaves behind to mourn his passing, his wife of 58 years Grace, sons William (Louise) of Lacombe, Alberta, Robert (Michele) of Houston, Texas, and Bruce.
He also leaves behind his sister Jean, niece Nancy and Francesca and family of Mission City, cousin Ruth Smart and family of Santa Monica, California, Nancy (Larry) Chandler and family of North Palm Beach, Florida, Bill (Lin) Somersall and family of Blaine, Washington, and Brian (Denise) and family of Victoria,
BC. Herb enjoyed spending precious time with his grandchildren Brandon (Kayla), Brooklyn (Geoff) of Lacombe, AB, Tess, Alex of Courtenay, BC, and Sheldon and Thomas of Houston, Texas. They will miss him dearly but know he is watching over them.
Herb and Grace were members of the Campbell River Ripple Rock Square Dance Club as well as the Courtenay Ocean Wave Square Dance Club. Herb and Grace enjoyed travelling and were fortunate enough to see a lot of the incredible sites of the world. Herb battled with his cancer to the very end but is now at peace with his maker.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Comox Community Health Service, Dr. Robb, and Courtenay Red Cross for all their incredible support.
It is with much love and thanks that family gives a special thanks to Cliff Riga (Jane) for the daily visits and phone calls. Karol and Jerry Power of Victoria for the comfort and care they provided, as well as a huge thanks to the neighbours and friends. The family feels truly blessed to be surrounded by such good friends and neighbours.
Herb would like everyone to raise a glass of your favourite single malt (or spirit of your choice) and give him a good send off to his next journey!!
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations to the Canadian Red Cross or Canadian Cancer Society in his name would be greatly appreciated.
Herb will be very deeply missed by all who knew him.
